We believe that Men can play an active role in eradicating violence against women. With this Blogathon, we want to collect ideas, thoughts and experiences of diverse men and women on the importance of men's role and the urgency of the issue. We hope that this Blogathon will help expose men to ideas they may never have seen before and find unique insights and perspectives on Violence against Women.

The sense of community, change and action is genuine for those of us who hold and participate in this Blogathon. 'Men Say No' will allow bloggers and readers to really dive into the many facets of violence against women, men's reaction to it and everything in between. We would like to run this Blogathon in solidarity with the International 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. I think its a shame that such a large section of our male population ( educated and uneducated) think that its their birthright to abuse and demean women. Unfortunately films and Tv soaps do very little to change the regressive potrayal of women. Very often in the name of entertainment cinema portrays eve teasing/ molesting as "cute". Wish actors and actresses would say No to such potrayal. Wonder how all these get past the censor board so easily while a big debate happens about any love making scene.

India Shining will only happen the day women of this country find themselves free of discrimination and gender based violence
